Second Annual Expert Panel for Defective Drywall and Exhibition
Building Envelope Science Institute Members and guests had the opportunity to receive an update on the Chinese Drywall problem and to participate in round-table discussions facilitated by defective drywall remediation specialists; Presenters at the second annual Expert Panel for Defective Drywall are leading experts in their field, well able to discuss the issues faced by defective drywall contractors across the country. Some of the topics included legal issues such as defective drywall coverage litigation, preservation of evidence, defective drywall and insurance, health effects, other protocols, selective removal, XRF, and a national warranty.

In addition to these core activities, institute members have access to expert advice and knowledge sharing on topics such as successful construction, maintenance and restoration of building envelope construction. As new products, materials and techniques are developed to enhance building envelope construction, BESI will actively investigate and analyze them to assess suitability and appropriateness in preserving and maintaining building envelope integrity. The BESI Education Committee is charged with the continuing development of formal accreditation/certification for construction industry practitioners.
