Specialized Construction Industry Training Courses

The Building Envelope Science Institute is offering the following courses in 2011.

All members are required to follow a strict adherence to the standard code of ethics and business practices required by the institute.

Please note: These Certification Programs are being offered through the Building Envelope Science Institute. Each designation requires the successful completion of a comprehensive examination based on a core body of knowledge presented in the course curriculum and other referenced sources.

National Training and Certification Seminar on "Chinese" or Defective Drywall in America

Certifying Inspectors (CDDI), Consultants (CDDC), Project Managers (CDDPM) and Remediation Contractors (CDDR) in the Inspection, Quality Control, and Remediation of homes with Defective (Chinese) Drywall.

The training course for Chinese or Defective Drywall inspection and remediation requires a solid construction, consulting, project management and inspection background with proof of experience prior to final acceptance of application for certification.

This Chinese Drywall Contractors Certification Program is offered through the Building Envelope Science Institute. This is not a State or Government sponsored certification.

Certified Building Envelope Inspector 1 (CBEI-1)

Under Development

Course certifies pre-qualified individuals for basics in building envelope evaluation inspections in residential and commercial construction.

Course Description: Provides students the overall basic skills and knowledge for performing inspections of buildings in accordance with ASTM Standard (E2018-08) with an introduction to the concept of bringing together all components of the building to form one cohesive unit, free of leaks and designed for long-term performance integrity.

Pre-requisites: Licensed construction professional (i.e. contractor, architect, engineer, etc.) in good standing, Bachelor degree in Building Construction, or residential inspector with a minimum of four (4) years experience.

Certified Building Envelope Inspector 2 (CBEI-2)

Under Development

Course certifies pre-qualified individuals for advanced training in building envelope evaluation inspections in residential and commercial construction.

Course Description: Enables the graduate to perform investigations of buildings with confidence. The graduate will understand when it is necessary to test, how to perform necessary tests on components of the envelope, investigation means & methods, basics of mold, methods of remediation, and how to write a scope of work (remedial action plan).

Pre-requisites: Completion of CBEI-1, a graduate degree in Building Construction, or state licensed construction professional (i.e. contractor, architect, engineer, etc.) in good standing.

Certified Building Envelope Inspector 3 (CBEI-3)

Future Course

Course certifies pre-qualified individuals for Master training in bilding envelope forensics including analysis of building envelope construction and failure analysis of building components.

Certified Building Envelope Consultant (CBEC)

Future Course

Course certifies pre-qualified individuals for Building Envelope Consultant designation, which is the highest certification in building envelope science (entry to this course is reserved only for those individuals with a minimum of 20+ years experience in the construction industry)
